Who Dares Wins
by N Fourbois
Part Four
It was Sunday morning. Gideon had stayed over at the Duttons' with Jamie for the weekend and the two boys were chilling out after returning from church and eating a full English breakfast. They intended having a lazy day after making the effort to get their homework out of the way Friday evening and a gruelling school rugby match on Saturday. Neither boy had escaped bruises, but a victory over their old adversaries at St Bridge's made every blue mark on their arms, bodies and legs worth it. They had got themselves into a weekend routine of sleeping over at each other's house alternately. Although two beds were always provided, the boys would sleep together, but out of respect for their parents on the one hand and fear of making too much noise and disturbing them on the other they avoided a full session of lovemaking unless they knew they had the house to themselves. They had already suffered the indignity of Charlie bursting into Jamie's bedroom one morning to find them curled around one another in slumber. Fortunately Charlie thought it was cool and didn't make a big deal of it. The two brothers were very protective towards one another and would never intentionally get the other into trouble. In fact they owed each other so many favours in that direction that they just didn't tell tales.
"Hey, Gids, here's a challenge." Jamie was looking at something on the internet.
"What's that?" said Gideon looking up from the copy of GY magazine he was reading. He was having a go at the Spot the Ball competition.
"Come and have a look at this." Jamie had accessed a site ehm.cz and found some pictures of hot teenage gymnasts. He had found some of one lad in particular performing in several different disciplines: floor work, the rings, horizontal bar, and he stood out not only for his natural beauty, tight muscles, ribs, sandy coloured hair and a keen look on his face, but also because of his team uniform, a white leotard, or competition top as the site preferred to call them, with red and blue chevrons, the Czech national colours, and sometimes blue shorts and sometimes white stretch trousers, not quite tights, through which could be seen the well developed muscles of his lower abdomen.
"How old do you think he is, Jamie?"
"Why?"
"You can't see much of a packet."
"You wouldn't with what he's wearing. It's designed like that."
"So, what is he wearing?" enquired Gideon.
"To begin with that top's not a vest. It's a leotard and they're designed to keep everything well tucked in."
"To get back to my original question, how old is he?"
"Well, this competition took place in November last year, so I would reckon he's about our age and I would think his packet could well be a bit bigger by now."
"Why's it such a challenge, then?" continued Gideon remorselessly.
"Think of the mechanics of seducing him. You would have great difficulty undressing him, especially without his co-operation," said Jamie.
"I'm beginning to see where you're coming from. You'd have to slip those shoulder straps down past his arms to have any chance. You'd get nowhere with those white trousers."
"Even the shorts would be virtually impossible, despite the fact they're so wide. You'd easily get your hand up to stroke his bulge..."
"... and so make him come in his leotard. Yeuk! Messy. Give me a hug, Jamie. I've got all hard just looking at him."
The two boys fell into a hug and their lips met automatically, at which point with a crash, bang, wallop, Jamie's bedroom door was suddenly opened. The boys leapt apart.
"Hey, Jamie, do you know where the football..."
"Charlie! When are you going to learn to knock and wait before coming into my room? And no, I don't kn..."
"Hey, bro, he's hot," Charlie carried on, not listening to his brother one iota, but with his with eyes glued to the computer screen. "If I was gay, I'd love to have him as my boyfriend."
"He's too old for you," answered Jamie exasperated.
"Thanks, bro. Hey, like your boner, Gideon," said Charlie in a loud voice and breezed out of the room leaving the door open.
"I love my little brother dearly," said Jamie, "but one of these days I'm going to throttle him. He's as subtle as a bull in a china shop." Gideon had gone crimson and was busy adjusting his trousers. "I just love the way he keeps on saying 'If I were gay...'. He's as gay as a rampant peacock, except the equipment hasn't arrived yet to prove it to him."
"God, Jamie, I still need to get rid of this stiffy." Jamie got up, closed the door, looked out of the window and saw his father raking up leaves in the garden while his mother was talking to Mrs Nextdoor.
"How about a game of pocket billiards, Gids?" They would play this at school at times when they had had no chance of a private moment together for days on end. They had discovered a little hideaway that even the smokers hadn't yet found.
"You're on."
"No, you're on, hard on," quipped Jamie and they both dissolved into giggles. "Come here, gorgeous." Jamie was leaning against the wall with his 501s unbuttoned and Gideon snuggled his back into him. Jamie put his hands into Gideon's trouser pockets and started stroking him through his underpants, left hand feeling his balls and right hand stimulating his cock. Gideon thought of nothing but the pleasure Jamie was producing in his loins with his hands and the feeling as he felt Jamie hardening up against his butt. Gradually his breathing became faster. He opened his mouth to draw breath more easily just as a kiss on the neck was bringing him to the brink when the door burst open for a second time.
"I can't find it, bro...", but it was too late. Jamie lost control of his fingers causing Gideon's dick to escape from the confines of his slip and Gideon lost control as his juices spurted over the inside of his light cotton trousers. "Sorry, guys," said Charlie, otherwise unabashed. "Hey, Jamie, can you do that to me some time."
"You'll have to get your own billiard cue and balls first. Now go away and leave us alone, you little eunuch!" he shouted. However, as far as Gideon was concerned the damage was done with a small damp patch appearing on his trousers and as he continued to spasm, quickly becoming a large damp patch. Jamie passed Gideon the box of tissues on a damage limitation exercise and he cleaned himself up as best he could.
"What am I going to do now?" he asked, fighting back the tears.
"You could wear my dungarees. They're identical to yours and no one will notice. Wait, I've got a better idea." Jamie walked across to his desk, picked up a half empty can of Pepsi and poured it over Gideon's lap.
"What did you do that for?"
"Trust me." Jamie ran out of the room and seconds later Gideon could hear him talking to his mother in the garden. "Sorry, Mum. I've just tipped a can of Pepsi over Gideon's trousers."
"What you need to do, Jamie, is get them into the washing machine as quickly as possible, then lend Gideon some pants and trousers of yours. You're big enough to operate the washing machine without me." Jamie appeared back upstairs. Meanwhile Gideon had stripped off his soiled trousers and underpants. Jamie fetched some clothes from his tallboy and handed them to Gideon.
"Are these okay?"
"Fine," said Gideon, grateful for anything at that moment and he quickly put them on, amazed at the fit, but that just caused another problem. Aroused at the thought and feeling of wearing Jamie's bikini briefs and trousers simply gave him another boner so soon after his uncontrolled ejaculation.
"God, Gids, you're a randy little git," said Jamie as he gave him a little tease with his hand up between his legs. "You don't learn your lesson."
Jamie went back to his computer and Gideon stood behind him, both peering at the screen.
"Right, Jamie, this challenge?"
"We're going to find out who this cutie is."
"Are we going to assume that he's from...?"
"Yeah, just where is he from?"
"ehm.cz," said Gideon. "Cz, that's Czechoslovakia, except it's not Czechoslovakia any more, but Slovakia and the Czech Republic."
"And this must therefore be the Czech Republic bit. Pass me my atlas over. It's on the same shelf as the computer manuals." Gideon fetched the atlas and opened it at the Czech Republic.
"Capital Prague."
"Let's see what we can find out about these pictures. Right, here we are. They were taken at a national competition, the Jana Gajdose Memorial Competition in Brno."
"How do you spell that?"
"b-r-n-o."
"Here it is, Brno."
"One minute. Google." Jamie brought up Google and typed in 'jana gajdose memorial' and clicked 'I feel lucky'. "Here we are. It's an international competition. So we can't assume our gymnast friend is Czech."
"I've got an idea," said Gideon. "That ehm.cz site has got an e-mail address. Why not give them the photo number and ask if they know?"
"Gids, you're not only a great sex god, but a genius to boot." Jamie typed out the e-mail and sent it off. "Right, what shall we do while we wait for a reply?" asked Jamie lustfully.
"Not that. I've already ruined one pair of trousers today."
"Ooh, I forgot them. We'd better go and take them out of the machine and put them in the tumble dryer." Both boys dashed downstairs.
"Here you are, Gideon, washed, dried and ironed. If you wait for Jamie to finish something off, you'll wait for ever."
"I've never found that, Mrs Dutton. Thanks a lot. He'll try to be more careful in future," said Gideon with a twinkle in his eye.
"Don't get too busy, boys. Lunch will be in half an hour."
"Okay, Mum," said Jamie as the two boys clattered their way back upstairs.
"Hey, Jamie," said Gideon. "You don't mind if I don't get changed back yet, do you? Wearing your clothes is a real turn on."
Half an hour later the five of them were sat down around the dining room table enjoying Mrs Dutton's roast lamb, roast potatoes and vegetables. One worry she did not have with any of the three boys was the problem of fussy eaters, which she put down to 'eat what's put in front of you or starve' along with discouraging snacking between meals. Gideon had been brought up in a similar manner and no one could deny that they were all physically strong boys.
"Jamie and Gideon, are you two coming out with us for a walk this afternoon?"
"No, Mum," answered Jamie for both of them. "We're working on this project together."
"I thought you said you did all your homework on Friday?"
"We did," said Gideon, "but this is athletics. We're profiling the career of a young champion gymnast and we need to do some research on the computer."
"He comes from Czechoslovakia, or at least from the Czecho part of it," chimed in Jamie.
"Well, we're not quite sure yet," said Gideon. "It's an international championship. So he could come from some other country."
"What's his name?" enquired Mr Dutton.
"That's what we've got to find out," said Jamie.
"At the moment we've only got a set of pictures, the event and the date to go on," added Gideon. Of course the subtext to all of this conversation was 'we want to be alone for an hour or two to make mad passionate love', but the boys couldn't exactly say that, so when Charlie piped up and said
"Can I stop in and help, Jamie?" his offer was not exactly welcome.
"No, we need to be able to concentrate, Charlie."
Judging the situation, at least the concentration part of it, Mrs Dutton said "I think you'd better come out with us, Charlie. You haven't had much fresh air this weekend."
"I'm not ready to come out yet," replied Charlie with a wink towards Jamie and Gideon, but they simply looked intensely at their plates as the continued to devour Sunday lunch in silence.
Lunch over, Jamie and Gideon took on loading and unloading the dishwasher while the others got ready to go out in time to be able to get back before it grew dark. The two boys watched the car disappear round the corner before hotfooting it upstairs to spend an hour or so enjoying each other's body and affection. When they awoke after dozing through their post-passionate exhaustion, it was beginning to grow dark. They tidied up the room (read bed) and themselves (read put their clothes back on) and Jamie turned on the computer. Imagine their surprise when, despite its being Sunday, they received an e-mail from the host of ehm.cz. <Um, everybody is interested in this guy :-) Well, I don't know his name, all I know is that he is from SK HRADCANY (Prague) team. Best regards, Pavel>
"Hey, he sounds hot property," exclaimed Jamie.
"What do we do now?" asked Gideon.
"Ask Google, of course," replied Jamie. He typed in sk hradcany. A number of things came up, mainly about a castle in Prague, but nothing to do with a sports club.
"I know," said Gideon. "Let's e-mail the Prague information office." They googled again, got the address and sent off another e-mail. "We'll probably have to wait until tomorrow now." At that moment they heard the car draw up outside.
After tea Mr Dutton with Jamie and Charlie took Gideon home. It wasn't till his parents saw him that he remembered he was still wearing Jamie's trousers and pants.
"Oh, I had an accident," said Gideon red faced. "I've got the clean stuff in my rucksack."
Next day the two boys met at school and went back to Gideon's to do their homework. Homework completed and after a quick cuddle Jamie reluctantly went home. After tea Gideon was chilling out in front of the television when his mobile rang. He didn't need to look at the caller, but took his phone up to his room to talk to Jamie.
«Gids, I've had a reply from Prague. They've only sent the address of the president of SK Hradcany.»
"Wow! Wicked."
«So I'm going to send an e-mail and attach a pic.»
"What if he doesn't speak English?"
«They all speak English and if he can't his secretary will or find someone who does.»
"'Kay. Keep me posted. Love you lots."
«Love you more than lots, Gids.»
"Love you more than that, Jamie," and Gideon cut the connection to stop their declarations of love from getting out of hand.
The week at school passed as any other one would. Thursday evening was athletics club for the two boys. On Friday Jamie went home with Gideon as a prelude to spending the weekend there. Both boys would be playing rugby for the school the following morning, but as it was an away match it meant an early start. The Farthings were going to transport the Duttons to support the team and of course Charlie was not going to be left behind. Consequently Gideon and Jamie had to travel back on the coach. Interesting, though, Charlie had managed to wheedle his way onto the coach, ostensibly to be with big brother, but in truth he loved being surrounded by fourteen and fifteen year old rugby hunks, many of whom such as Will and Alex he knew already anyway, and because of his lively nature, not to mention the blond hair and blue eyes, a prettier version of his elder brother, he received perhaps a little more attention than an eleven year old should and loved every minute of it. Gideon and Jamie had been fed at the host school and so once they had arrived home and Mrs Farthing had managed to prise the dirty kit from both boys' sports bags, they just chilled out in Gideon's room, too tired even for any physical display of passion, content just to be alone in each other's company. They were planning to go to the pictures in the evening after a politically incorrect eat-in at Burger Star and certainly didn't want to fall asleep in the middle of Get Real.
"Hey, Gids."
"Mmm." replied Gideon as he slowly came out of that halfway stage between sleep and wakefulness.
"Can I see if I've got any e-mails? I'm just feeling lucky." Gideon nodded, still not fully awake. Jamie switched on Gideon's iMac, set it up to access his own account while Gideon drifted off again. "Gids," Jamie shouted. "I said I was feeling lucky. Look at this." Now fully awake Gideon got off his bed and looked at the computer screen. There in front of them was an e-mail headed 'SK Hradcany', containing the required information: Dear Jamie, I am able to help you with the information you require. The gymnast in the picture is Jirí Patácek and he won the championship for under 13s at Brno last year. I hope this is what you want. Regards, Ing Jirí Matucha, President.
"Wicked," said Gideon. "What now?"
"We'll google him." Jamie forwarded the e-mail to his own computer and got Gideon to save a copy on his. Gideon typed the name into Google, got thousands of addresses with Jirí and umpteen with Patácek, but could not tie the two together. At that moment a voice called up the stairs. "If you two are going to eat and see the beginning of the film, you'd better get a move on."
"Okay, Mum," Gideon shouted back. The two boys moved out saying cheerio to the rest of the family.
"You will give us a ring when the film finishes, won't you? I don't want you wandering round in the dark on a Saturday night. It's not safe."
"Yes, Mum. Bye, everybody."
"Have a good time. Have you got enough money?" added his Dad.
"Yes, thanks, Dad" answered Gideon.
"Bye, everyone," added Jamie.
Burgers were a rare treat for Gideon and Jamie. Leaving Burger Star they went on to the cinema and decided to go up into the balcony where they could sit at the front and get a good view. During the film they just held hands. It was too funny, and yet too serious, for distractions such as snogging and they didn't want to miss a second of Ben Silverstone. Anyway they were going to spend the night together. When the film ended, they got up and went out into the street. Gideon dutifully rang home and arranged the pick-up in the cinema carpark which was well lit. They were minding their own business when suddenly they heard from behind a familiar voice, even if it was a bit slurred.
"I thought I might find you two faggots watching a faggoty film like Get Real." They turned round to see Lacey and a couple of his unsavoury mates.
"Ignore him," said Jamie.
"Look at those two queerboys," Lacey shouted out to his mates, "going off home to suck each other's cocks." His mates tried to pull him away. Gideon and Jamie tried to ignore him, but he carried on.
"Remember we still have those photos, Lacey."
"You ladies wouldn't dare. I'd smash you to pulp." He was just about to lunge at them when Mr Farthing drew up and the boys quickly climbed into the family car.
"That was good timing , Dad," said Gideon. "You just saved one of us from getting thumped."
"I recognise that kid, don't I?"
"Yeah. He's the queerbasher from Will's party that threw up all over the carpet."
"I'm sorry, Gideon and Jamie, but you're always going to have to be looking over your shoulder for that sort of thing."
"Do you think we ought to go to the police about it?" asked Jamie.
"Little point as he didn't actually hit one of you and who are the witnesses? You and his mates. It's hardly got the makings of a court case."
Next day the two boys were talking about the incident of the night before. They were obviously shocked by the affair.
"We can't let Lacey get away with it or he'll do it again. I think we ought to post those pics on the school notice board."
"I've got a better idea," said Gideon. "If we put those pics on the notice board, we've come to the end of the line. We'll have no hold over him any more. How about sending them to his parents?"
"You're evil, Gids."
"Fight fire with fire. I'm nice most of the time. Or at least you seem to think so."
"Now stop getting frisky. There's work to be done." Jamie took out his mobile and pressed the buttons. "Hey, Alex."
«Hey, Jamie.»
"Trouble with Lacey last night. Any chance when your mother's in the office at school she could get his address?"
«...»
"You've got it somewhere anyway. Great. I think his parents are going to receive a school photograph they didn't order. I don't need it now. Give it to me tomorrow. See ya, Alex." He cut the call. "You're coming round to my place on Monday, Gids. I'll print the photos off and we'll get them in the post before we do our homework." The two boys grinned evilly at one another.
Monday evening the photos duly went into the post. Wednesday in the school dining hall a very disgruntled Lacey glared at Gideon, Jamie, Alex and Will.
"School notice board next time, Lacey," Alex called out.
"And we'll alter it before we print it so that you've only got one ball and a one inch dick," added Will.
"Why make it look bigger than it really is?" said Alex and the four of them burst into giggles.

Some weeks passed without anything more exciting happening than our two boys' passionate love life. Not even a Lacey incident to report. They were at athletics club for indoor training one Thursday evening when their trainer gathered everybody together.
"Lads, listen up. We've received this letter..." He waved the piece of paper he was holding. "... from a sports club in the Czech Republic." Gideon and Jamie looked at one another. "They're touring England and putting on their final gymnastic display in the local stadium. They want to know if we can host them and put their members up in our homes." Jamie and Gideon looked at one another and giggled.
"You've got a one track mind, Jamie Dutton."
"Yeah, dirt track."
"Please ask at home and take one of these letters for your parents. You never know. We might get a return invitation to go to Prague."
"Prague..." Gideon whispered to Jamie. They both went to collect a letter and their eyes grew big when they saw it was from SK Hradcany.
"Mr Jones," said Jamie, "we know someone from this club. Do you think, if he comes, he could stay with one of us?"
"All things are possible, but you'd better ask your parents first."
It was Mrs Dutton who came to pick them up after the session and the boys could talk of nothing else in the car. Gideon asked her to come in as they got to his house to talk about the stay.
"I'm sorry, Gideon," said his mother, "but that's during the fortnight that Aunt Mathilda is coming to stay. We haven't really got the room and it will be just too much all together."
"We'll see what we can do," said Mrs Dutton when she saw the disappointment on the boys' faces. I'll have to look at the calendar to make sure, but I don't think we have anything special on that weekend." Back home the Duttons looked at the calendar and that weekend was free. "Jamie, I expect you'd like to have Gideon here that weekend."
"Sure, Mum."
"So if we have someone, he'll have to sleep in Charlie's room.
"Who's that?" butted in Charlie who had just come into the room.
"Possibly a gymnast from Prague."
"Like the one in that picture on the computer?"
"If our luck's in, possibly the same one you saw on the computer," answered Jamie.
"Cool," said Charlie. "He can share my room any time he wants, if it is." 'And he's not gay, so he says,' thought Jamie.
The responses came in to the trainer and the arrangement was on. The Duttons wrote a formal request to host Jirí Patácek, if he was on the list, and as the time for the visit neared, Jamie was given a letter to take home. In it was a schedule for the visit, complimentary tickets for the display at the indoor stadium and finally the details of the Czech guest. There in bold capitals stood the name JIRÍ PATÁCEK, his name, address, telephone number and e-mail address with the addition 'Speaks good English.'

During the week before the 'big' weekend Aunt Mathilda had installed herself at the Farthings'. It was Wednesday. Mr Dutton was working late and Mrs Dutton had to transport Charlie to and from Boy Scouts and call in at the Witches' Institute inbetween. So it was Gideon's responsibility to entertain Aunt Mathilda, or Great Aunt Mathilda to be precise, because she was in fact his mother's maiden aunt. They were sitting in the front room with the television on when Eastenders started.
"Gideon, do you really want to watch this?" asked Aunt Mathilda with a look of disgust on her face.
"Not really."
"Good, because I can't stand the way they are always shouting at one another and they are so common. Do you watch any soaps?"
"I try to watch Home and Away, but since Jamie and I have been bo... b..., have been best friends, I haven't really had the time. I record the omnibus edition on Saturdays, but rarely get to watch it."
"What's it about?"
"It takes place on the coast in Australia and it's got these really neat looking guys in it, and there's this new character called Henry. He's a bit anti everything and everybody because his widowed mother's remarried and it's changed his lifestyle, but he is so hot, his hair, his face, his body, his voice..." Gideon broke off suddenly, realising what he was saying and that he had perhaps gone too far, but Aunt Mathilda was unabashed.
"Go on, Gideon."
"Well, that's it really," he said as he got up to switch the television off and put the the wireless on, for he knew his great aunt loved to listen to Classic FM. He sat back on the settee next to her again.
"You're really fond of Jamie, aren't you?"
"Yeah, he's the greatest best friend you could have. He's cool and cute and fun to be with."
"You don't mean best friend, do you, Gideon? You mean boyfriend?" He went red.
"Have Mum and Dad told you?"
"They've told me nothing. It's just so obvious seeing you two together that you're in love and an item."
"Is it that obvious?"
"Only to those that know about these things. Gideon, I'm going to tell you something. Even your mother might not know this, I don't know. When I was much younger and just setting out on my career, I used to share a flat with another girl from work. Even in those days no one ever worried if two women lived together. Men could never get away with it. But it wasn't just another girl. We were lovers. We did everything together, even slept together, and that's why I never got married."
"What happened to your er... partner? Why aren't you still together?"
"She died after a long illness. They'd be able to do something for her these days, but then they didn't have the drugs."
"Oh." Gideon was puzzled and obviously thinking. "Aunt Mathilda, what did you used to do together?"
"Well, we went on holidays, cycled, rambled, belonged to the local WI, you know, the usual things people do."
"No, I don't mean that." Gideon was so deep in thought that he was on autopilot. "I meant when you were in bed together. You see, boys have things to do stuff with, but women have got er... sort of nothing. Do you know what I mean?"
Still quite unfazed Aunt Mathilda answered "Now, young Gideon, I don't ask what you and Jamie get up to, and knowing you, you'd probably tell me. That's private, but I will tell you we had fun together and enjoyed ourselves."
"Oh, sorry, Aunt Mathilda."
"There's nothing to be sorry for. It's good to be curious, especially when you're young, and if you're really interested I expect that internet thing you've got will be able to tell you all about it. What I will say is that you and your mother are the only blood relations I have and if my great nephew is gay, so be it. That's all right by me." At that there was the sound of the front door opening as Mr Farthing came in late from work.

Thursday evening at the athletics club there was a buzz of excitement in anticipation of the arrival of the Czech party on the following day. The previous week the itinerary had been handed out. 'Friday, 1900 hrs Meet and Greet, Saturday, 0900 hrs practice, afternoon rest and leisure, 1900 hrs gymnastic display in the local stadium, Sunday free day, Monday 0730 hrs departure for the airport.'
Gideon was on his regular weekend sleepover at Jamie's. He certainly wasn't going to miss out on spending time with Jirí Patácek and so he was with the Dutton family outside the athletics club when the coach turned up a few minutes later than expected. Everyone was ushered into the gym, along with their luggage, to be welcomed and while the introductions were made, the hosts and guests matched up, a plea was made to let the Czechs be fed and watered and allowed to go to bed early as they had had a gruelling tour and still had a hard day ahead of them. Charlie immediately picked Jirí out of the crowd and had to be restrained from running up to him. Finally when the family could meet their young guest Charlie drew Jirí into a huge bearhug. It was a squeeze in the car, but all six of them finally made it home. Jirí, because his English was so good, combined with his outgoing nature, proved to be quite lively despite all the travel and the quiet serious nature associated with many Czechs. Around the meal table he explained that his English had been helped by the fact that he had been to England and America before, as his father was a business man and during the school holidays and if training permitted he would take him with him, although this was the first time he had performed any gymnastics in England. Because of his English he had been appointed spokesman for the team. According to the programme, however, it was early to bed for Jirí and Charlie took great pleasure in personally escorting him up to his room and showing him where everything was.
The following morning there was little time for anything. Jirí had to be at the stadium for nine and fortunately there were no school matches that Saturday, so Jamie and Gideon could make sure all their homework was up to date, especially as none had been done yet because of the excitements of the night before. At midday they picked Jirí up from the stadium and took him home for a light lunch, two hours' mandatory rest and then his personal preparation for the evening's event. Again our boys accompanied him to the stadium for five o'clock, returned home to get ready to go with the two families and Aunt Mathilda to the display. Luckily they had two cars available. The display lasted two hours and at no time was anyone bored or looking at their watches. What those boys, ranging from eight to fifteen in age, could do, seemed just incredible to the English spectators, and as if the performance weren't entertaining enough in itself our three boys, yes three, took the greatest pleasure in spotting a different form of talent, so well developed physically the participants were in their tight fitting gym kit or 'uniforms' as they liked to call them. As their spokesman Jirí had to give a little speech which he did in almost perfect English and as part of the accolade the visiting team received, he had to accept on their behalf a large bouquet of flowers, while he presented the athletics club with a plaque from SK Hradcany in Prague. The Duttons and Gideon had to wait while the team went off to shower and change, and when Jirí was ready he had great pleasure in presenting Mrs Dutton with the large bouquet he had earlier received. Now the performances were over Jirí seemed far more relaxed and back home it became a regular battle as to whether he or Charlie was going to speak. The nine of them sat around the dining room table over supper chatting away about English sport and Czech sport, the differences in food, their school and lives, making sure th
at Jirí was always the centre of attention and never excluded in the conversation. Finally the hour was late, the Farthing parents departed and the boys were sent upstairs to get ready for bed.

The plan for Sunday was to get up when ready, full English breakfast, chill out, pop into town for some souvenir shopping, traditional Sunday dinner, out to a local theme park for the afternoon, then in the evening chill out till bedtime. It was something past seven and Gideon and Jamie were comfortably dozing in each other's arms, enjoying the occasional kiss, but in general simply the well-being of being physically close to one another, when crash, bang, wallop, the door opened and like a tornado in came Charlie.
"Charlie!" shouted Jamie and Gideon in unison as they were torn from that comfortable state between waking and sleeping.
"What do I keep on telling you?"
"To knock first and wait to be told to come in. Sorry, guys. I'll do it next time, promise." He was so ebullient and open, outgoing, loving and loveable, it was impossible to be cross with him for longer than seconds.
"Go and close the door."
"It's all right. Mum and Dad are downstairs having a cup of tea and Jirí's in the shower."
"Yes, dear, but go and close the door, please," said Jamie with a tone of mock exasperation. Charlie shut the door, unintentionally slamming it, and then jumped onto the bed, not the empty one, but on Jamie's where Gideon was lying as well. The boys were now wide awake.
"Hey, guys," said Charlie, "I've got something to tell you. Promise to keep a secret?"
"Yees," the other two chorused with Gideon adding "cross my heart and hope to die."
"Well," said Charlie, his voice approaching as near to a whisper as it ever could, "Jirí let me sleep in his bed with him."
"And you say you're not gay," said Jamie.
"Maybe a little bit. Maybe a bit more than a little bit, especially if he lets me do it again tonight. And, promise you won't tell this to a soul..."
"We promise," and in something which really did approach a whisper
"He let me touch his willy and I can tell you, it's much bigger than it looks in those photos."
"And did you let him touch yours?"
"Humph! Jamie, I'm surprised at you. Do I ever ask you two what you do to one another?"
"Yes."
"But you never tell me..."
"Of course not."
"... so I'm not telling you." Gideon and Jamie fell back onto the pillow giving a further sigh of aggravated exasperation.
After breakfast Mr Dutton and Aunt Mathilda took Charlie off to church with them to give the boys space while mother could get on with preparing lunch. Up in Jamie's room the boys were supposed to be playing computer games, but chatting took priority.
"Gideon, Jamie, I want to ask you a question, but it might be impolite."
"Go on, Jirí, we'll cope."
"You two sleep in the same room. Are you gay?"
"Does the Pope wear white?"
"I don't understand. Of course he does."
"Sorry, Jirí, it's an English expression after an obvious question. The answer's yes. We've been boyfriends since last summer. Why?"
"I am gay too, but I have no boy. That's one reason I like gymnastic. There are always lots of... what do you call them?... hot boys there. It is my reward for the hard work of training. I can be with so many strong and good looking boys. They don't know I'm gay. I like you very much and your brother Charlie." Jamie and Gideon looked at one another.
"Jirí," said Gideon, "we've got something we'd like to ask you. We really like your gym kit..."
"My gym kit?"
"What you wear for gymnastics."
"Ah, our uniform."
"It's so hot. So if we give you some money, can you send us each a set from Prague?"
"A set?"
"Shorts, long trousers and a leotard."
"A leotard?"
"The top."
"Ah, the composition top?"
"No, competition top."
"They are special for our club. You can have mine."
"But you'll have to buy new ones."
"No. My father owns a factory where they make them. He sells them to the club, but I get mine for no money. Only, because they are special you must promise not to wear them at a composition... I mean competition."
"You're safe there. There aren't many gymnastics competitions in England and we aren't good enough anyway."
"Besides, we'll give you some of our rugby and athletics club kit and then it's a swap and you have a souvenir."
"Agreed."
"Agreed."
"Agreed," and they all shook hands.
It was getting near to eleven when the shops open and so our three walked into town. While Jirí was choosing some presents for his family in a department store, Gideon left him with Jamie and popped off to do some shopping of his own. When they were getting a Pepsi in Burger Star, Gideon produced the small package he had bought.
"Jirí, Jamie and I want you to have this as a souvenir of us." Jirí unwrapped it and found a carton inside.
"What is this? Athletic supporter?"
"We usually call it a jockstrap. We noticed you don't wear them with your competition tops, but they are very comfortable under your shorts."
"Thank you. I have never seen one of these before."
The rest of the day went as planned and was enjoyed by all, even though Charlie had put himself in charge of Jirí. There was a detour to Gideon's house on the way home to pick up some of the promised kit. Gideon gave him his athletics kit, while Jamie donated his rugby kit. After tea while he was packing, the official swap took place and all parties were satisfied. All parties to the agreement that is, for Charlie was feeling left out of it and his face could not deny his sadness.
"Charlie," said Jirí, "I have nothing here which will fit you, but I promise, when I get home I send you a uniform by mail in your size." Charlie's face brightened up. He burst into a broad grin and gave Jirí one of his huge bearhugs and kissed him.
Over cocoa before they went to bed Jirí said "Gideon, Jamie, I want to ask you. How did you become boyfriends together?"
"It's a long story, too long to tell you now, but if you go onto the internet when you get back home and go to iomfats.org and then story shelf you will find it all written down under Who Dares Wins.
"Will you write that down for me, please?" At that point Mrs Dutton came in and said
"Come along, boys, bedtime. You've got to be up very early tomorrow." Unusually Gideon was stopping over for the Sunday night, but he would have time to go home and change into school uniform after saying goodbye to Jirí.
At six o'clock Monday morning all four boys were up. Breakfast was cooked by Aunt Mathilda. Mr Dutton went off to work earlier than usual as Mrs Dutton needed the car and then off to the athletics club for seven o'clock. Jamie was ready for school. The coach for the airport was already there and the luggage was being stowed underneath. There was a call for all the Czechs to climb aboard. Jirí was hugged by everyone, except that Jamie and Gideon kissed him on the cheek. Charlie had to go one better and kiss him on the lips to everybody's amazement. The coach started up and everyone waved goodbye as it drew off. While Mrs Dutton and Aunt Mathilda were walking to the car, the boys held back until the coach was completely out of sight. Charlie pushed his way inbetween Gideon and Jamie so that he could whisper in their ears.
"Last night I asked Jirí to touch my willy and he did and it went stiff, so I really am gay now, like you." Both older boys put their arms lovingly round Charlie as they sped up and walked towards where the car was parked.
